This is the God We Adore | A Peaceful Hymn written by Joseph Hart #6|100

This is the God We Adore | A Peaceful Hymn written by Joseph Hart #6|100 Hello again. "This is the God We Adore", is a two-verse hymn written by Joseph Hart (1712-68), and is the sixth Folked Up Hymn we've released this year. Originally, I performed this melody (with different words) in pubs and venues around Adelaide, Australia. Then I stumbled upon this hymn, and decided to fit the words to the music.
Apparently one of Joseph Hart's earliest publications was a little tract entitled, "The Unreasonableness of Religion, Being Remarks and Animadversions on the Rev. John Wesley's Sermon on Romans 8:32". So I guess he was opposed to Jesus, but was ultimately saved, and ended up becoming a Calvinist minister. Sound a little like the apostle Paul.
What I really like is how tenderly Jesus is portrayed in the first verse: not in a weak and sentimental way, but with all the fullness of what he has accomplished as the only one who demonstrates both perfect love and power power.

This release is part of our "100 Hymns in 100 months" project. The plan is to release one of these old hymns each month with new folked up music. This hymn is number 6 of 100. We're still very much at the beginning, and this project will take over eight years to complete!
