Prime Time, May 04, 2020 | Large Crowds Throng At Liquor Shops As Lockdown Restrictions Ease

As liquor shops were allowed to open in some areas in Lockdown 3.0, large crowds were seen thronging outside them across the country. Social distancing norms were blatantly violated by people in their quest to buy liquor. Police in some areas had to resort to baton charging to disperse the crowds and some shops were forced to close their shutters as the situation went out of control. Ravish Kumar asks if governments are ready to put people's lives at risk so that they continue getting their revenues from the sale of alcohol.
