Bio:
Seema Saifee represents individuals seeking access to post-conviction DNA evidence in state and federal courts nationwide and challenges wrongful convictions based on federal constitutional violations and newly discovered evidence. She also directs the Innocence Project Clinic at Cardozo Law School where she supervises law students and teaches courses on legal writing, post-conviction constitutional litigation, and Guantánamo habeas litigation.
Prior to joining the Innocence Project, Seema was a legal fellow at the ACLU-PA, where she litigated challenges to civil liberties abuses in cases involving national security, racial justice, and freedom of speech. Seema also worked at a New York law firm where she engaged in federal habeas litigation to challenge the unlawful and indefinite detention of ethnic Uighur men held at the U.S. Naval Base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and a former law clerk to the Hon. Dan Aaron Polster, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Adnan Sultan is a staff attorney at the Innocence Project. He litigates post-conviction cases nationwide on behalf of individuals seeking access to DNA testing and relief from wrongful convictions. He also instructs law students as part of the Innocence Project clinic at Cardozo.
Prior to joining the Innocence Project, he worked as a staff attorney at The Bronx Defenders representing thousands of clients charged with misdemeanors and felony crimes from arraignments to trial. He was also a member of the Bronx Defenders' Forensic Practice Group where he consulted with attorneys and conducted trainings on DNA evidence, and a Prettyman Fellow at Georgetown Law School where he both represented clients charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes in D.C. Superior Court and supervised third year law students in Georgetown's Criminal Justice Clinic.
