London mayor Sadiq Khan appeared at odds with Health Secretary Matt Hancock by insisting that the London underground was operating the “maximum amount of trains”. Mr Hancock had said: “Transport for London should have the tube running in full so people travelling on the tube are spaced out, further apart, and obeying the two meter rule where possible.
"There is not good reason in the information I have seen why the current levels of tube provision should be as low as they are - we should have more tube’s running."
Mr Khan also admitted that British Transport Police were having to intervene with certain situations on the London transport system.
He urged people to travel away from peak hours if they needed to travel at all.
